A new year goes hand in hand with an excuse to better yourself. It’s a chance for a fresh start and if 2018 starting on a Monday isn’t snynonmous with having a clean slate, I don’t know what is.
Whilst I don’t have any plans to drastically change who I am as a person. I mean, why should I? I’m pretty happy with who I am – in the most modest and humble of ways of course. Although I don’t want to change who I am, that doesn’t mean I don’t plan to better myself.
So I’ll be kicking off the year of 2018 with an organised and dedicated mindset. I’ve always been the kind of girl to accidentally live her life by a to-do list. And yet, I couldn’t tell you the last time I actually completed a to-do list.
I’m hoping this LuLu Guinness stationery helps me organise all my big (or not so big) plans for the year ahead.
So in 2018, the to-do lists will be firmly staying put but this time they’ll be joined by a sense of determination. They’ll be joined by a commitment to achieve the goals and plans I set out to.
Last year I achieved two of my biggest goals – buying my own house and getting a car. My achievements of 2018 likely won’t be as momentous as those of 2017 but that won’t stop me. No matter how minuscule my plans may seem, I’m going to make sure I give them my all.
Without further ado, here are some of my hopes, dreams and plans for 2018:
- Get financially stable again
- Have a happier mindset
- Start BJJ again
- Progress in Digital Marketing
- Climb more
- Decorate my house (or at least finish one room!)
- Make more time for the people who count
- Blog more
- Find balance
- Remember to stop and have ‘quiet’ time every now and again
- Explore new places
- Learn new skills
- Enjoy it
Naturally my goals are vague. Many of them are broad and undefined but that’s okay. I don’t need to pinpoint certain things that I want to achieve and nor do I want to cling on to them as though achieving that one goal will be my only source of happiness.
I know whether I reach my goals or miss them by a landslide, it won’t change who I am. It won’t alter my happiness. The important thing is that each year is an opportunity to grow and develop as a person.
Whether life heads in the direction we plan to or whether it strays to a winding, unfamiliar path we never intended to walk, the important thing is that is helps us grow. All of our experiences shape who we are and that’s what has me feeling excited for a new year, a new start and setting some goals to better myself.
2018 is going to be the year or productivity and ticking things off the to-do list. Above all else, 2018 is the year of being happy and growing as a person, whether I achieve those goals or not.
